Poland

Located next to Germany, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine, Poland has been a member of the European Union since 2004. It is a country with a rich history and culture, full of beautiful cities waiting to be discovered!

On this page, you can find articles about various Polish cities that I have visited, including Krakow, Zakopane, and Wroclaw, as well as their surroundings (including the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, to which I have dedicated several articles).

Poland is a welcoming country that I highly recommend you to visit!

Travel to Poland: exploring its history

Poland has a complex and fascinating past, and although some people pretend the country has outdated infrastructure and tourism, it offers a wealth of attractions, including museums, beautiful landscapes, historical monuments, charming city centers, surprising places of interest – such as the Wieliczka salt mines – and beautiful mountain resorts.

Another advantage for many travelers is Poland’s standard of living, which is still much lower than that of other countries in Europe, allowing for excellent travel conditions on a reasonable budget, with opportunities to dine at the best restaurants and stay in the best hotels.

Poland boasts many major cities, with one of the most beautiful being Krakow, but I also recommend exploring Gdansk, Torun, or Wroclaw, which come highly recommended by all travelers. And don’t forget to head south to the stunning Tatras region, where you can enjoy winter sports or hiking.

A trip to Poland is also an opportunity to explore its complex history, including visiting places like the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp, where over a million deportees perished.

When to visit Poland?

A trip to Poland can be made in any season, depending on your expectations. In the winter, it’s very enjoyable to appreciate the beauty of the Tatras mountain landscapes, and it snows frequently in the east of the country. In the summer, you can explore the cities or the coastal regions of northern Poland by the Baltic Sea.
